Job Summary:
The Forensic Computer Analyst plays a critical role in supporting law enforcement agencies and legal proceedings by conducting in-depth investigations and analysis of digital evidence. This role requires a deep understanding of computer systems, networks, and digital forensic techniques to identify, collect, preserve, and analyze electronic data for forensic investigations related to criminal activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough examinations of digital devices, including but not limited to computers, mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic storage media.
2. Utilize specialized forensic software and hardware tools to acquire, preserve, and analyze digital evidence following established forensic protocols and standards.
3. Identify, recover, and interpret electronic data such as documents, emails, images, and other relevant information from digital devices.
4. Perform comprehensive analysis of digital evidence to establish timelines, uncover hidden or deleted data, and identify patterns or connections related to the investigation.
5. Document all findings, processes, and methodologies used during the forensic analysis to ensure accuracy, reliability, and admissibility in legal proceedings.
6. Prepare detailed reports summarizing the forensic analysis, including clear and concise explanations of complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
7. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, legal professionals, and other forensic experts to provide expert testimony in court proceedings when required.
8. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in digital forensic techniques, tools, and methodologies through continuous professional development and training.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Forensic Science, or a related field.
2. Minimum of [X] years of experience in computer forensics, digital investigations, or a similar role.
3. Proficiency in using industry-standard digital forensics software and hardware tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK, Cellebrite, X-Ways Forensics).
